Establishment of first National Rail and Transportation University at Vadodara approved by Cabinet

Pm narendra Modi led Union Cabinet on Wednesday given approval for the establishment of first ever National Rail and Transport University (NRTU) in Vadodara, Gujarat. The first of its kind university will improve skills of its human resources and build capability. As per the government’s plan, till April 2018, all required approvals related to railway university will be done and first academic programme will hopefully be launched in July 2018.


Delhi ranks 7th in most expensive office locations in World: Report

RBI puts Bank of India under prompt corrective action

RBI has placed Bank of India (BOI) under the ‘prompt corrective action’ (PCA) framework because of weak balance sheets of the bank. As per end of March 2017, net non-performing assets (NNPA) of Bank of India has 6.90 per cent, common equity tier (CET) – tier I capital of 7.17 per cent and return on average assets (RoAA) of 0.24 per cent (in FY17) and -0.94 per cent (in FY16).

As a result of the decision of RBI regarding BOI, Bank can lend the money but with restrictions applied. Government holds 75.1% stakes of the Bank of India.

Annual ranking report of best countries for business by Forbes is out. This time UK (Britain) has been declared as best country for Business in 2018 by as per Forbes inspite of uncertainties around Brexit.

India and Sri Lanka Navies completed Second phase of joint oceanographic survey

Indian and Sri Lankan Navies has successfully completed the second phase of their joint oceanographic survey conducted at the South Western Coast of Sri Lanka. The survey was started in October with the arrival of Indian Naval Ship Sutlej in Sri Lanka. The survey chart was handed over to Commander of the Sri Lankan Navy after the completion.


Sebi hiked FPI investment limit for govt debt

Releasing a circular, Indian market regulator SEBI hiked FPI investment limit for government securitites from earlier Rs 1.85 lakh crore to new over Rs 1.91 lakh crore. The step has been taken in order to boost foreign funds inflows into the Indian market. The new FPI investment limit will be made effective from next month.
