Indian Navy Conducts Exercise Naseem-Al-Bahr with Oman Navy
The 11th edition of bilateral exercise “Naseem Al Bahr or “Sea Breeze” between Indian Navy and Oman is conducted and Indian Naval Ships Trikand and Teg have deployed to Oman for the exercise. India and Oman has been conducting this bilateral exercise since 1993. It was formally established in 1953 Indo-Oman Treaty of friendship.
India Germany Signed Loan Agreement for Pare Hydroelectric Plant Project
India and Germany have signed a loan agreement to provide funding of EUR 20 million for the Pare Hydroelectric Plant project under Indo-German Bilateral Development Cooperation. The project is developed with an aim of generation of hydroelectric power to utilize it for the socio-economic development of the North Eastern region. The loan was signed by government of Germany with North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCO) for providing EUR 80 million on guarantee provided by Government of India for the Pare Hydroelectric Plant project.
Mamang Dai and Ramesh Kuntal Megh Win Sahitya Akademi Award 2017
Famous authors, Mamang Dai and Ramesh Kuntal Megh have been chosen for the prestigious Sahitya Akademi award 2017 for their great work. The awards were announced by Sahitya Akademi in 24 languages. The awards were won by Seven novels, five collections each of poetry and short stories, five works of literary criticism, a play and a book of essays.
Hamesha Vijayee Exercise Held in Rajasthan
Southern Command of Indian Army has conducted an exercise named as ‘Hamesha Vijayee’ in the Rajasthan. The exercise was conducted in the deserts of Rajasthan in the general area of Barmer and Jaisalmer. The aim of the Indian Army exercise was to elevate the capacities of Army soldiers so that they could strike deep into the enemy territory in an integrated air-land battle.
Birmingham to Host Commonwealth Games in 2022
The host city of Commonwealth Games of 2022 has been decided and this time its Birmingham city of England’s West Midlands region where this mega event to be organized. Earlier the the game organization responsibility was given to Durban in 2015, but due to financial difficulties the venue has been changed. The last Commonwealth games were held in Britain in 2014 at Glasgow.
First design University of India Opens in Haryana
India’s first design university is opened at Sonipat, Haryana with name as “World University of Design”. It has been promoted by Om Parkash Bansal Educational and Social Welfare Trust of Mandi Gobindgarh, Punjab. The university contains state-of-the-art infrastructure and world-class facilities in the special, creative domain of Design.
India Announced $25 million Assistance to Rakhine State
India has announced a assistance of $25 million to help Rakhine state of Myanmar to get back to normal state. Announcing about the help, External affairs ministry spokesperson Raveesh Kumar mentioned that the aid amount will be utilized in five years. Recently thousands of Rohingya muslims had left the Rakhine state after violence targetting them was started.
