World Health Organisation Certifies Gabon as Polio Free

Central African country Gabon has been declared as a “polio-free country” by international health agency World Health Organization(WHO) , The declaration was made after WHO got lack of new reported or suspected cases in the country.

As per the report, there has been a decreased by 99 per cent of polio cases in the country since 1988. It was 1988 when polio was affecting in most 125 countries and 350,000 cases were recorded worldwide.


PV Sindhu Wins Silver at Dubai World Badminton Super series Finals

Indian star badminton player P V Sindhu has won the Silver medal in women’s singles summit clash of the Dubai World Super Series Final in Dubai. It was World No. 2 Akane Yamaguchi of Japan against whom Sindhu lost the match.

In the prestigious season-ending tournament finale, Sindhu lost in three games, 21-15 12-21 19-21, to Yamaguchi in the final.


French Man Sails Around the World in 42 Days, Breaks World Record

Francois Gabart a Frenchman has created the world record as he navigated the globe faster.  It only took 42 days, 16 hours, 40 minutes and 35 seconds for him to complete navigation of the globe.

Francois has broken the previous record which was set by compatriot Thomas Coville last year. He completed the navigation six days and 10 hours earlier than compatriot Thomas Coville.


Union Government funds must not be used for religious functions in Maharashtra

As per the latest circular released by the Maharashtra government, the state government has directed local bodies to stop spending government funds on religious and social functions organized by private institutions.

As per the new directions spending government funds on Ganeshotsav, Navratri, Ramzan, Eid, Chhath Puja, Gudi Padva, Guru Nanak Jayanti, Mahavir Jayanti and Dr BR Ambdedkar Jayanti shall not be done in future after the state government’s order.

West Bengal Government decided to renovate rural rods ahead of panchayat elections in state
