Mahindra and Mahindra has launched Prerna project for women farmers working in agriculture sector. Its aim is to provide efficient and ergonomic farm tools and equipments for women rather than using the unsuited tools which women are using today.

The Prerna project will initially be started from Odhisa. It will be covering 1500+ families from more than 30 villages of the state. The Mahindra and Mahindra celebrated the ‘Mahila Kisan Diwas’ with this new lauch. Prerna project has been launched in collaboration with the Central Institution for Women in Agriculture (CIWA), a department of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), and the NGO Pradan (Professional Assistance for Development Action).

Aim of Mahindra and Mahindra Prerna Project:

Presently there are 100 million women in India and most of them are active in the fields and work for long hours with men or alone. They use the kinds of tools which are not suited to them and basically designed and created for men to work in the fields. This creates difficulties for them to use the tools and this is what the Prerna Project by Mahindra is going to resolve.

This first project under the Prerna will work on the these issues and will promote women friendly agriculture tools which will make women more efficient.
