Newly Appointed Deputy Election Commissioner

Chandra Bhushan (Senior bureaucrat) has been appointed as Deputy Election Commissioner. This was the part of major reshuffle by the government. Bhushan is a 1995 batch IAS officer in Union territories grade. He is initially appointed for a period of five years. The government has also appointed 13 officers as joint secretaries in different departments of central government.


Mangaluru International Airport adjudged cleanest, best maintained airport By AAI

Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) was awarded a prize by Authority of India (AAI) for being cleanest, best maintained airport under B category. Airports with passengers under the 1.5 million to 5 million in numbers are under B category. The award was presented to Airport director VV Rao at New Delhi on the eve of 23rd annual day celebrations of the Airports Authority of India (AAI). Bloomberg Billionaires Top 100 Index Released

In recent release of Bloomberg Billionaires Top 100 Index, Reliance Industries Chairman and Managing Director Mukesh Ambani has been ranked at 19th place. He is also named as Asia’s third richest person. According to sources Ambani’s net worth is around $38.3 billion. This is equivalent to 1.5 per cent of India’s total GDP.

It was Amazon’s CEO Jeff Bezos who tops the list with a net worth of $21.8 billion. Jeff is followed by Microsoft founder Bill Gates at second position. Other people featuring in top from Asia are Alibaba co-founder Jack Ma (ranked 13th) and Tencent co-founder and CEO Pony Ma (17).


Google to Shut Down its URL shortener in favour of dynamic links

Google is going to shut down its URL shortner service by replacing it with Firebase Dynamic Links (FDL). Existing users of URL shortner services will be able to use the goo.gl console for one more year till 30 March 2019.


China to Unveil World’s Longest Sea Bridge

China is all set to unveil newly constructed world’s longest sear bridge. The cross sea bridge of length 55 Km will connect Hong Kong, Macau and Maniland China. Once started it will reduce travel time between mainland China, Macau and Hong Kong by half. It will be a six lane bridge with four tunnels and four artificially constructed islands.

According to reports, quantity of steel used for bridge is equal to 60 Eiffel Towers in Paris, France. More than 14 countries experts contributed in construction of longest bridge of world over sea.
