E-Way Bill System for Inter-State Goods movement comes into force

Government’s new E-Way bill system for Inter-State Goods movement has came into force over entire country. Below are the main points related to news.

As per new electronic bill system for movement of goods from one state to another, businesses and transporters will have to produce e-way bill in front of GST inspector. The new billing system will be applicable on goods worth more than 50,000.

The new e-way bill system is a kind of permit. It contains details of all goods being transported having value more than Rs. 50,000 and destination where it has to be delivered.

How E-Way bill system Will work?

E-Way bill systemThe E-Way Bill can be generated through GST Common Portal. The person or transporter who is moving the goods need to do registration on GST portal before generating e-bill. Talking about capacity of bills generation, GSTN chairman Ajay Bhushan Pandey stated that it can generate 60,000 bills per hour. The capacity may be increased also.

As per Pandey’s report, total of 1.12 million taxpayers have done their registrations and 20,057 transporters have enrolled. To address on call queries, 100 agents are made available by department.

Earlier government had made new rules regarding this new system and also had relaxed process a little to make it an easy thing to do.
