Mountaineer Sangeeta Bahl becomes oldest Indian woman to scale Mount Everest

Sangeeta Bahl of India, has became oldest Indian woman to scale Mount Everest at 53 years of age. Sangeeta is former model and entrepreneur from Jammu and Kashmir. Sangeeta who is currently living in Gurugram scaled the peak on May 19, 2018. She was helped by two Sherpas during her achievement. This was her second attempt. For the first time, Bahl was not able to do it due to suffering from high-altitude sickness.

Not only Sangeeta but her husband Ankur Bahl is also a mount climber. He also climbed Mt Everest in 2016. Discussing about Sangeeta’s achievements, she has conquered six out of the seven highest peaks of the world. The couple had pledged to scale seven summits in seven continents, which they clinched, some of them together.

Earlier female record holder as oldest Indian woman to scale Mount Everest

Sangeeta Bahl is 53-year-old former model and entrepreneur. She has broken the earlier record made by Premlata Agarwal. Premlata was earlier record holder who scale mount Everest in May 20, 2011 at the age of 48.

Bahl with a mission on Mount Everest

Sangeeta along with scaling the peak was also carrying a banner to the peak. The banner was about advocating early detection of breast cancer in women, and funding for the same.

Indians scaling Mount Everest this Year:

According to statistics, six dozen Indians have scaled Mt Everest this year which it self is a record. Now India is second nation after after climbers from the US.
