Kerala Tourism launched Continuous Tourist Survey 2017-20

Kerala tourism department has launched Continuous Tourist Survey (CTS) 2017-20, a survey to accelerate the tourism growth in the state. It is a three years survey which starts from this year and will continue till 2020.

The continuous Tourist Survey 2017-20 will be conducted in collaboration with M/s Datamation Consultants. M/s Datamation Consultants was selected through a transparent tender process.

Main points:

  1. Financial assistance of Rs. 25 lakh will be provided by the center to Tourist Survey 2017-20.
  2. The survey will study the various factors related to visiting tourists such as their interest, age of visiting tourists, demographic details and what attracted them to visit and their experience regarding the tour.
  3. Along with tourists interests, it will also cover the facilities provided to tourists such as hotels, house boats, home stays, ayurveda centers, restaurants and tour operators.
  4. As said by State Tourism minister, Kadakampally Surendran, this data will be very helpful in observing the current tourism conditions in the state and will be a key point in the growth of the tourism sector in Kerala.

In an earlier survey which was conducted in 2010-13 by Kerala Tourism, it was observed that on an average, a foreign tourist stays for 18 days in Kerala and spends almost Rs. 81,000.
