India successfully test-fires Nag ATGM in desert conditions

India on Wednesday successfully test fired Anti Tank Guided Missiles (ATGM) Nag in desert conditions. Nag ATGM is developed by country’s Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). With the desert test of Nag ATGM, developmental trials of the misslile are complete and it is ready for induction now.

Nag is third generation anti-tank missile developed by India. It is developed by DRDO and is one of the five missiles series under Integrated Guided Missile Development Program (IGMDP).

DRDO:

Defence Research and Development Organisation is India’s research and development organization that was constructed in 1958. Its headquarter is in New Delhi. The control of DRDO is with Ministry of Defence, Government of India. DRDO develops defence technologies for various fields like aeronautics, armaments, electronics, land combat engineering, life sciences, materials, missiles, and naval systems.

It is India’s largest organization having 52 laboratories. Around 5,000 scientists works under DRDO. It also has around 25,000 other scientific, technical and supporting personnel.
