India Slips Down in Human Freedom Index 2020
American think tank Cato Institute and Fraser Institute released Human Freedom Index 2020. India slipped to 111th spot in 2020 as compared to country’s earlier position of 94 in previous year i.e 2019. The ranking was conducted on 162 countries of world. United States and UK placed at 17th position. India is ahead of China and Bangladesh. China is at 129 while Bangladesh is listed at 139th place.
Top three countries in the Human Freedom Index 2020 are:
- New Zealand,
- Switzerland
- Hong Kong
What is Human Freedom Index?
Human Freedom Index is released by American think tank Cato Institute and Fraser Institute in Canada. The index is based on personal, civil, and economic freedoms.
IND-INDO CORPAT between India and Indonesia
Indian and Indonesian navies conducted 35th edition of IND-INDO CORPAT (India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol). It was held for two days, from 17 to 18 December, 2020. India took part with Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kulish, an indigenously built missile corvette and P8I Maritime Patrol Aircraft (MPA).
The aim of India-Indonesia Coordinated Patrol is to prevent Illegal Unreported Unregulated (IUU) fishing, drug trafficking, maritime terrorism and other issues.
