China becomes Vice President of FATF

Indian Neighbor China has been selected as Financial Action Task Force (FATF) vice president. The decision was finalized at plenary meeting of FATF which took place in Paris, France on 23rd February 2018. Other matters discussed in meeting were Measures to fight terror financing and money-laundering. Also Islamabad was given time till June 2018 to make a plan of action to act against terrorist groups operating from Pakistan.


Michael McCormack Appointed new deputy prime minister of Australia

Australia got its new deputy prime minister on 26th February, 2018 as Michael McCormack. Michael McCormack was appointed after earlier Deputy Prime Minister of Australia Minister Barnaby Joyce resigned on 23 February, 2018 due to allegation of extra-marital affair. Michael McCormack has also been elected leader of the National Party.


Gymnastics World Cup : Aruna Budda Reddy Becomes 1st Indian To Win Individual Medal

Aruna Budda Reddy created history at Gymnastics World Cup 2018 as she became first Indian To Win Individual Medal at world Gymnastics championship, in Australia (Melbourne). Aruna won bronze medal in women vault by securing 13.649. Other Indian woman Pranati Nayak managed to score 13.416 and finished at sixth place. Gold medal was won by Tjasa Kysslef of Slovania whereas silver medal was won by Australia’s Emily Whitehead.


UIDAI Introduced New blue colored ‘Baal Aadhaar’ for children below the age of 5

UIDAI has introduced a new type of Aadhaar card in blue color for children under the age of five. It is named as ‘Baal Aadhaar’. There will be no requirements of biometric for this children aahaar card but as the child turns five, he/she needs to take to Aadhaar center for bio metric.


Andaman and Nicobar Command to host Milan 2018

Andaman and Nicobar command will host this year’s Milan 2018 starting in the second week of March. The multinational mega event will be hosted by the Indian Navy at Port Blair. It will start from 6 March and will end on 13 March, 2018. Theme of this year will be ‘Friendship Across the Seas’.

About Milan:

The mega multinational event not only fosters the co-operation through naval exercises and interactions but also helps participating navies of different countries to come closer to each other. It provides a chance to them to collaborate, improve mutual understandings and strong ties.

First Milan event was held two decades ago in 1995. It was participated by four navies.


PM Modi flags off ‘Run for New India’ Marathon in Surat

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has flagged off “Run for New India” marathon from the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium of the city. Mission is to generate awareness among people of India about social causes and call upon all to resolve to build a New India.

Run for New India Marathon has been divided into four segments and includes full Marathon of 41 Kms. It was organized by the Surat Nagrik Samiti. Approximately 1.50 lakh runners participated in the Run for New India Marathon. PM Modi in his addressing on the occasion requested people to participate in Run for Unity on October 31. The event was also attended by dignities like Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, Member of Parliament C.R Patil and many others.


DRDO successfully carried test flight of Rustom-2 drone

India’s premier Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) successfully tested flight of its Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle RUSTOM 2 in Karnataka. Rustom-2 is medium-altitude long-endurance unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). The test flight is even more important because it is first flight in user configuration with higher power engine. It was tested in the presence of S Christopher (DRDO chairman), Director General of Aeronautical System CP Ramanarayanan (DRDO), DG Electronics and Communication Systems J Manjula and other senior scientists.


Parupalli Kashyap wins Austrian Open

Former National champion Parupalli Kashyap has won the Austrian Open International Challenge. In the final match played, Kashyap defeated June Wei Cheam of Malaysia in straight games. This is Parupalli’s first international title in over three years.


India’s First 5G trials successful, 3 GB per sec speed achieved

Indian Telecom services provider Bharti Airtel and Chinese technology giant Huawei successfully conducted trials of 5G network in India. The joint 5G trial was done at Airtel’s Network Experience Centre located in Gurugram at Manesar as per the statement of company. Speed of 3GB/Sec was successfully obtained by a user during the speed test.
