Urban Development minister M Venkaiah Naidu on environment day flagged of separate waste collection vehicles for NCR region. Under this campaign two different coloured bins (Blue and Green) will be used to collect waste. Green bins will be used for wet waste and blue ones will be containing dry waste.
The vehicles will cover total nine Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) including Gurugram, Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad along with five ULBs of Delhi.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Naidu also urged people to participate in the campaign by separating the wet and dry waste at their houses. He said that the when solid waste is burned with other waste, it produces very harmful greenhouse gases like Methane and Carbon dioxide and these gases are highly responsible for causing environment issues. He also added that it improper waste management is causing various dangerous diseases among the people like Hepatitis, Cholera and Malaria.
