Vidarbha Won Ranji Trophy 2017 Tournament

Cricket team of Vidarbha has won the 2017 Ranji cricket tournament by defeating Delhi in the final. This is the first Ranji Trophy title for Vidarbha cricket team. Vidarbha team was given a target of just 29 which the team got comfortably by the loss of one wicket. After getting 252 runs lead, bowlers of Vidarbha bowled very well and restricted Delhi cricket team at a score of 280 runs.


SBI cuts base rate by 30 bps to new 8.65%

Providing a new year gift to its customers, India’s largest public sector Bank SBI cuts base rate by 30 bps on Monday. The bank also reduced its benchmark prime lending rate (BPLR) by 30 basis points. With this new year reduction the base rates of SBI are now the lowest among other lending banks. As per the changes, base rates is now 8.65% from earlier 8.95% and benchmark prime lending rate (BPLR) has been reduced from 13.70 per cent to new 13.40%. As per the concerned officers the new reduced rates will benefit existing 80 Lakh SBI customers.


Nepal bans solo Mount Everest Climbing under new rules

Nepal bans solo climbers from scaling its mountains including world highest peak Mount Everest. The decision has been taken for safety reason and to put a break on accidents happening while climbing the mountains in Nepal.

As per the new rules for safety, double amputee and blind climbers will not be allowed to climb world’s highest peak without obtaining a valid license. Also it will be compulsory for foreign climbers to have a guide while doing mountain climbing.


Israel withdraws from UNESCO

Israel has decided to withdraw it name as a member of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) along with United States. The reason behind the decision is criticism of Israel’s occupation of East Jerusalem and its decision to grant full membership to Palestine in 2011.


Arunachal Pradesh Declared Open Defecation free State

After Sikkim, it was Arunachal Pradesh declared open defecation free state on last Sunday. With this the Arunachal Pradesh has become second Northeast state after Sikkim to attain the status of Open Defecation free state. There were three states of Arunachal Pradesh named Upper Subansiri, Siang and Changlang which were having open defecation. But after observance the three states were also found to be free of open defecation.
