USA to Provide EMALS technology to India for aircraft carriers


The United States has agreed to provide crucial EMALS (Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System) technology to Indian navy. EMALS technology will be used by Indian Navy’s future aircraft carrier as informed by Trump administration to India.

EMLAS History

India had requested to US for the Electromagnetic Launch System (EMLAS) during the time when Obama was the president of USA by sending a request letter. EMALS technology is built by General Atomic for aircraft carrier planned by the Indian Navy.

Indian Navy has plans to use US-made EMALS catapults into its future super-carriers. Because of its adaptable design, EMALS can dispatch a wide variety of aircraft weights and can be utilized at various stages with varying catapult arrangements.
