New prime minister of Nepal – KP Sharma Oli

KP Sharma Oli has been appointed as new prime minister of Nepal. Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli has sworn in as 41st PM of Nepal. He was administered the oath of office by President Bidya Devi Bhandari at Nepal’s capital Kathmandu.

KP Oli will be succeeding Nepali Congress Party’s Sher Bahadur Deuba who had resigned after an alliance of communist parties swept the parliamentary and provincial elections. This is the second time that Oli will be becoming prime minister of Nepal. Earlier he had hold the position from October 2015 to August 2016.

Khadga Prasad Sharma Oli or popularly known as KP Oli is 1952 born at hills in eastern Nepal. He got educated in the plains of Jhapa in eastern Nepal. Oli was highly influenced by local communist leaders while he was a teenager. He joined the Nepal Communist Party in 1970.

He has won elections of parliament in 1991, 1999, 2008 and 2013. KP Oli has also hold the important positions in Nepal as home minister in 1994 and foreign minister in 2007. He became party’s chairman in February 2014.
