Maharashtra to Become First Indian State To Have Transgender Welfare Board

Maharashtra state government is all set to construct Transgender Welfare Board (TWB). Maharashtra govt also made a provision of Rs. 5 crore to be utilized for the welfare of the community. With this Maharashtra will become the first state to construct Transgender Welfare Board.

The demand of having a Transgender Welfare Board was pending for long time and now will become reality. The concept to construct such kind of board was suggested by earlier government in 2014. It will be constructed within one month time as per the Minister of State for Social Justice Dilip Kamble.

Functions of TWB

The board for transgenders will be working for welfare for transgenders in various areas like education, employment, housing, and health scheme. It will also take care of Constitutional and human rights of transgenders.
