Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS) has been implemented by Himachal Pradesh Government to offer curative geriatric health care services by way of additional insurance cover.
Under the scheme any person who is having age equal to 60 or above and is currently enrolled in RSBY or is going to be enrolled RSBY can take benefits of the Senior Citizen Health Insurance Scheme (SCHIS).
In case if there are more than one senior person in a family enrolled under RSBY then the additional cover will be multiples of Rs.30,000 per senior citizen. So the benefits will be provided on floater basis if there are two persons in a family who are senior citizens.
As per the release, a separate list of surgical packages has also been prepared costing more than Rs 30,000 and treatments related to cardiology, cardio-thoracic surgery, cardiovascular surgery, neurosurgery, poly-trauma and repair, burns, surgical oncology and medical oncology will be covered.
