India’s first Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra for skilling in Smart Cities inaugurated

India’s first Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) for Skilling in smart cities was introduced on October 23 in New Delhi, by Union Minister Rajnath Singh. The inauguration was done as a team with the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC).

NDMC-PMKK Centre for Skilling in Smart Cities has been located at Mandir Marg of New Delhi. The building is 30,000 sq.ft. and is capable of skilling 4,000 youth on per year basis.

India beat Malaysia in a nail biting contest by 2-1 to win Hockey Asia Cup for the third time. Uttar Pradesh Government led by CM Yogi Yogi Adityanath has declared that the exgratia amount for police officials who dies on duty will be doubled by his government. CM Yogi made this announcement while speaking at Police Commemoration Day Parade in Lucknow.

Indian Railways Cutting down running time of 500 long distance trains

Indian Railways has decided to cut down the running time of 500 long distance trains by two hours from next months. As per the officials, new timings will be updated in November. The decision to reduce the running time is an effect of the earlier directions given by railway minister Piyush Goyal in this month.

Highlights:

After the new time table is implemented, each railway division will be having two to four hours time for maintenance related work. An internal audit trail has been started by the railways under which 50 mail and express trains will be upgraded to superfast services.

It will be a part of an overhaul of the rail system of increasing the average speed of existing trains.

Karanataka govt to ban pillion riders on new two-wheelers with 100 cc Engine Capacity

Karnataka government has decided to ban pillion riders on new two wheelers having capacity less than 100CC. The step has been taken to ensure the safety of pillion riders who often becomes victims of the accidents as per the report of Bangalore Mirror. The circular regarding the rule will be out within a week’s time.

Punjab Govt to close 800 government schools with less than 20 students

With an aim to proper utilization of teaching staff, Punjab government has decided to combine 800 schools of the state having less than 20 students in total. The merging of such schools will be done with their nearby schools situated within one kilometre radius.

A communique has been sent by the director of the Education Department (Elementary) to district education officers. District education officers are instructed to complete the move within one week. Currently 1600 teachers are working in such schools and once the merger is complete all these teachers will be posted at the schools where their services are required most.
