RBI Directed Banks to Start doorstep banking facilities to senior citizens

In a decision Reserve bank Of India (RBI) has asked banks to provide doorstep banking facilities to senior citizens with 70+ years of age and to persons with disabilities.

As per RBI directions the banks will have to provide services like pick-up and delivery of cash, chequebooks and demand drafts at the residence of over 70 years aged senior citizens and to specially-abled persons, including the visually-impaired.

Banks are asked to start this services by December this year.


India Canada Fourth Annual Ministerial Dialogue Starts at New Delhi

Fourth Annual Ministerial Dialogue Between India and Canada has been started in New Delhi from Today. From Canada the delegation will be led by Canadian International Trade Minister Francosis-Philipe. Whereas Indian delegation will be led by commerce and industry minister Suresh Prabhu.

The aim of the dialogue is to enhance the partnership between the two countries.


Teddy Riner wins tenth consecutive world title : Still Unbeatable

Teddy Riner has won his tenth world title consecutively and remains the emperor in judo. Teddy won it at the 2017 Judo World Championships Open in Marrakesh and is still unbeaten.

The 28-year-old from Guadeloupe notched up his 144th consecutive win by beating Belgian Toma Nikiforov in the final. It was two months ago when Teddy had won his ninth gold medal at the world championships in Budapest.

He is also the most successful judoka of all-time. This achievement was got by Teddy when he won his eighth title in 2015.

Teddy has just one defeat to his name back in September 2010 in the final of the open-weight championships against Japanese fighter Daiki Kamikawa.


Varanasi Tops The List of Country’s Most Polluted City

Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) released its report of most populated cities of India and surprisingly its Varanasi that tops the list. As per the report of Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) the Varanasi’s Air Quality Index (AQI) when observed at 4PM was 491.

Varanasi was followed by Gurugram at 480, Delhi at 468, Lucknow at 462 and Kanpur at 461. Normally if the pollution level reches between Air Quality Index (AQI) range of 401 to 500, the situation is categorized as severe. This kind of air quality is very dangerous for healthy people and even more dangerous for those facing breath related problems.


Audrey Azoulay Elected as Director General of UNESCO

Audrey Azoulay (45), a former French Culture Minister has been appointed as UNESCO’s Director General. She is the eleventh DG of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation.

Audrey Azoulay is second woman to occupy this position and is first first Jewish Director of UNESCO.


Pankaj Advani wins IBSF World Billiards Championship


Indian cueist Pankaj Advani have won 2017 IBSF World Billiards Championship held at Doha. He defeated England’s Mike Russell with a score of 6-2. Pankaj Advani was defending the title as he was also the last time winner of the title. He had won the title last year at Bengaluru.

In semifinal Pankaj had beaten Indian Rupesh Shah by 5-2 score whereas Mike Russell had beaten Singapore’s Peter Gilchrist by a score of 5-1 to enter into final.


November 12 : World Pneumonia Day

Yesterday on 12 November, 2017, world observed World Pneumonia day to spread awareness about the disease throughout the world. The aim of observing Pneumonia day worldwide is to bring people together from all over the world to prevent the disease.

First Pneumonia day was observed eight years back in 2009 when more than 100 organizations had joined hands together. Since then the number is growing and currently there are more than 140 organizations, institutions and government agencies have joined the initiative.


Telangana declares Urdu as the second Official Language

Telangana government has declared Urdu as the second official language in the state. The announcement was made by Telangana chhief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in the state Assembly.

From now all the competitive exams in the state will also be having Urdu as an option. An Urdu speaking officer will also be available in every office of the state. The government has given 60 days time to appoint Urdu officers in all offices of the state.


India sixth most vulnerable country facing extreme weather events

India is ranked at sixth position of the world in Global Climate Risk Index (CRI) 2018 released by Germanwatch in terms of facing extreme weather events. Germanwatch is an independent Berlin-based development and environmental organisation.

Top five countries in the list facing climate risk are:

Haiti, Zimbabwe, Fiji, Sri Lanka and Vietnam

US has been placed at 10th place
