India has highest number of Internet shutdowns in 2017-18

As per UNESCO’s report for the session 2017-18, India is at number one position for most number of internet shutdowns. It was only in India where 82 out of 97 instances of internet shut downs happened among South Asian countries. In recent report of Clampdowns and Courage-South Asia Press Freedom Report 2017-18, Pakistan has total 12 while Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have reported one internet shutdown each.

Internet shutdowns : It is an intentional interruption in the supply of internet whether mobile, broadband or apps.

It was Kashmir of India where nearly half of total instances occurred in India happened. It included bringing down services in order to perform military operations


Lata Mangeshkar Conferred With Swara Mauli Award

Indian melody queen Lata Mangeshkar was today conferred with Swara Mauli title. She was honoured by spiritual guru, Vidya Narasimha Bharati Swami. Her sisters Asha Bhosle and Usha Mangeshkar were also present on the occasion.

India is world’s Largest Remittance-Receiving Country

India has became largest remittance-receiving country in the world with US $69 million for the year 2017. There are huge number of Indian migrants working overseas. The report was prepared by’RemitSCOPE’. According to report, there has been total of USD 256 billion remittances to the Asia-Pacific region.

India with USD 69 billion is at number one position among other Asian countries. China, Philippines with Remittances Received USD 64 billion and USD 33 billion respectively are at second and third position.


India and Nepal Agreed for Partnership Extension on Socio-Economic Development

India has agreed with Nepal for the extension of Socio-Economic Development partnership. It will be expanded on the basis of principles like equality, trust, respect and mutual benefit. PM Modi on his two days visit to Nepal met with Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Both leaders emphasized on requirment for the contineous convening of bilateral mechanisms to review the overall state of bilateral relations and for expeditious implementation of the economic and development co-operation projects.
