Indian Railway semi high speed train on Delhi Jaipur route

Railways of India is planing to introduce semi-high speed train between Delhi to Jaipur. The semi speed train will run at speed of 200 kmph. It will cover the whole distance in just 90 minutes. Currently the trains running on Indian routes can maximum go up to 110 Km/Hr.

The project is still on the table of Railway ministry and once it gets final nod from Indian Railways, it will be great thing for passengers. Railway is getting tough competition from both roadways and aviation sectors. This move will definitely boost the number of railway passengers.


RBI Rs 40 lakh penalty on SBI

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has imposed penalty of Rs. 40 Lakhs on SBI for not complying with its directions on detection and impounding of counterfeit notes. RBI said it found deficiencies on SBI’s part in regulatory compliance with counterfeit notes regulations. The fine of 4 Millions (40 Lakh) was imposed on March 1, 2018.


CCI fined Rs. 54 Crore on Jet Airways, IndiGo, SpiceJet for unfair business practices

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has fined Rs. 54 Crore on three major aviation companies of India Jet Airways, IndiGo and SpiceJet. The fine was imposed for alleged cartelisation, unfair business practices with respect to fixing fuel surcharge on cargo transport. Out of total 54 Crore rupees fine, Jet airways fine is Rs. 39.81 crore, IndiGo Rs. 9.45 Crore and 5.1 Crore rupees fine is on SpiceJet.


7th Pay Commission: Central government employees Dearness Allowance hiked to 7%

Union Cabinet has approved to hike Dearness Allowance (DA) for central government employees to 7 per cent on Wednesday. Earlier DA was paid at 5% rate. The move will benefits around 11 million government employees and pensioners. The newly applicable DA rate will be paid from 1 January 2018. The increase is based on 7th Central Pay Commission recommendations. This will put an additional burden of Rs 6,077.72 crore on state exchequer each year.


Sukhad Yatra App Launched by NHAI to empower highway users

Nitin Gadkari headed Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has launched a new app named Sukhad Yatra App. Its aim is to empower frequent highway users by providing them very useful information about the road. The app is developed by National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). It provides a lot of features like real-time data waiting-time at toll-plazas. The main features of app includes:

  1. Complain about FastTag facility/Lane
  2. Complain against Toll Plaza management
  3. Potholes and other maintenance issues
  4. Safety hazard during road construction along highways across India
  5. Poor workman ship of construction
  6. Online recharge FastTag cards
  7. Locating Point of Interests (POI) including restaurants, petrol pumps on highways, restroom etc
  8. Report Accident
  9. Real-Time data of toll plaza – Know waiting time at toll plazas

Architect BV Doshi becomes first Indian to win 2018 Pritzker Prize

Reputed Indian architect Balkrishna Doshi (or BV Doshi) is honoured with prestigious Pritzker Prize 2018 for his deeply personal, responsive, and meaningful architecture. He is the first Indian to win this prize.

Born in 1927 at Pune, Balkrishna Doshi is Indian architect, urban planner, and educator. The prize money of $100,000 along with a bronze medallion is presented to the winner of Pritzker Prize. The prize was started in 1979.


Center Allocates Rs 2,000 crore compensation package for Pakistan occupied Kashmir refugees

Center government has approved a Rs 2,000-crore compensation package for refugees who came from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir and are now living in Jammu and Kashmir. Total 36,384 families were provided Rs 5.5 lakh each.


Mumbai is 16th most expensive city:

Mumbai has been ranked at 16th position out of top 20 most expensive cities of world. The statistics are as per Knight Frank Wealth Report 2018.

The cities were ranked based on four indicators: Wealth, investments, future and lifestyle.

Monaco is at the top spot in the list of costly cities in world. Hong King, New York and London are at second, third and fourth place respectively in the list.
