Development of Solar Cities scheme: 60 Solar Cities to be developed

Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has decided to develop 60 cities under “Development of Solar Cities” scheme. The total 60 cities includes 13 Pilot and 5 Model Cities up to 12th Five-year Plan period (2012–2017). To make the scheme successful, master plans of 49 Solar Cities have bee made ready. Also in 21 cities, Stake-holders Committees have been constituted. Solar cells have been created in 37 solar cities.

Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Lays Foundation Stone For Rhododendron ParkChief Minster of Arunachal Pradesh Mr Pema Khandu has laid foundation stone of Rhododendron Park in Tawang on February 6, 2018. Speaking on the occasion, CM hoped that the new park will be helpful in conservation of rhodo species which is under serious threat because of road and land acquisition projects started by Army and Border Road Organizations.

The park will be spread over total area of 1.15 hectares. The funding for Rhododendron Park in Arunachal Pradesh will partially be provided under border area development programme (BADP). The park will be planted with more than 30 species of rhododendrons.
