India Ranks 47th On Inclusive Internet Index: Facebook

In Facebook commissioned Inclusive Internet Index done by Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), India has been ranked at 47th place out of 86 countries. Sweden got the first place in the index. Sweden was followed by Singapore and US for second and third spot respectively in the list. The categories used for indexing countries were Availability, Affordability, Relevance and Readiness. Countries were ranked based on scores obtained in the categories.


Haryana Cabinet Approves death penalty for rape of victim aged 12 or less

Cabinet of Haryana in a meeting headed by Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar approved a proposal to introduce a legislation. Under which there is a provision of death sentence or rigorous imprisonment of at least 14 years to a person who is found guilty of raping a girl of age 12 years or less. The 14 years imprisonment may further be extended for lifetime.


India Clinched 11 Medals At Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament

Strandja Memorial Boxing Tournament has been completed. India has managed to get 11 medals in the 69th edition of boxing event. Out of eleven medals, five were won by men and six were clinched by women. Overall India got two gold, three silver, and six bronze medals. Vikas Krishan was adjudged best boxer of the event. He won gold medal in 75 kg category. Second gold was won by Amit Panchal.


Arunachal Pradesh sanctioned Rs. 700 crore under PMGSY by Central Government

Union Rural Development Ministry has sanctioned a grant of more than Rs. 700 crore under PMGSY for Arunachal Pradesh. The amount will be used for construction of 15 bridges and 43 roads in the state. The roads of total length 685 Km and bridges of 577 metres will be constructed by using the amount alotted for Arunachal Pradesh by Center government.


Union Government to launch GOBAR-Dhan Yojana

Union Government to roll out Galvanizing Organic Bio-Agro Resources Dhan (GOBAR-DHAN) scheme. The GOBAR-DHAN scheme was introduced by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley during 2018-19 budget speech.

What is GOBAR-Dhan Yojana?

The motive of the scheme will be to convert cow dung and solid waste into the form so that it could be used in the farms. The scheme is aimed to help farmers to raise their income and will also be helpful in cleaning villages.


Roger Federer is Most Decorated Laureus Award Winner

Tennis legent Roger Federer has become most Decorated Laureus Award Winner in the history of these awards. Federer now has six statues of this award after he won two- Sportsman and Comeback titles at the 18th edition of the prestigious awards ceremony. Roger became the first choice for Sportsman of the Year category award among other tough competitors like Rafael Nadal and Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the women category, American Serena Williams got Sportswoman of the Year Award following her Australian Open success, with her twenty third Grand Slam title. Like Federer Serena is also the most decorated Laureus Award winner in women category. She has five statues to her name.
