Mobile wallet and payments app ‘Tez’ Launched by Google In India

Google has launched a much awaited mobile wallet and payments app ‘Tez’ in India. The Tez app will enable people to link their phones to their bank accounts. Thus the users will be able to make payments for their purchases in physical stores as well as online.

Two versions of the app have been launched by Google, one for Android and other for iOS users. A part from providing online payment system, the users will also be able to send and receive money.

Google is linking up with number of major banks in the country by the use of UPI (Unified Payments Interface) a payment standard and system backed by the government in its push to bring more integrated banking services into a very fragmented market.

The Supported banks include Axis, HDFC Bank, ICICI and State Bank of India and others that support UPI.

Online payment partners include large food chains like Dominos, transport services like RedBus, and Jet Airways and to help address one of the many ways that the Indian market is fragmented, the app has support for English, Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Marathi, Tamil, and Telugu.


Russia and Iraq restore air travel after 13-year freeze

Commercial airline has been once again started between Russia and Iraq with first Iraqi Airways plane leaving for Moscow from Baghdad. The airline services between two countries were suspended by Russia after the start of war by US in the Iraq in 2003.

Now after 13 years of freeze the services of the airine has been started again signaling on the part of the Iraqi authorities that Russian nationals can safely visit Iraq.

According to sources, 10.31 in the morning, An Iraqi Airways plane left Baghdad and was expected to arrive at Moscow’s Vnukovo airport at 2.19 pm (1119 GMT), according to the Russian airport’s online departure and arrival timetables.


Airtel Payments Bank launches UPI enabled digital payments in India

Airtel Payments Bank driven by Sunil Mittal has become the first payments bank in India to integrate more secure Unified Payments Interface (UPI) on its digital platform.

It is an increase in payments choices available to customers and will make payments system more secure to online/offline merchants. With this new integration, making instant money transfers to any bank account in India will become more easy.

How UPI Works?

UPI provides an easy way to users to make payments and transfers. There is no need to furnish bank details to perform transactions using UPI. Customers can create easy to remember IDs. Thus it ensures high data security while doing transactions.

Customers can also link their Airtel Payments Bank savings accounts to any of their UPI handles on popular apps such as BHIM or UPI of other banks.


Union Minister Sushma Swaraj Will Attend UNGA Session in New York

External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj will attend the annual session of UN General Assembly (UNGA).

Here is the whole programme and meetings that Sushma Swaraj will hold at UNGA:

  1. A high-level meeting will be done by her with Rex Tillerson. Rex Tillerson is US Secretary of State.
  2. A meeting will also be held between her and Japanese Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida.
  3. Meetings with Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay
  4. Meeting with foreign ministers Khemaies Jhinaoui of Tunisia,
  5. Meeting with Anders Samuelsen of Denmark,
  6. Meeting with Edgars Rinkevics of Latvia and
  7. Meeting with Fernando Huanacuni Mamani of Bolivia.

India is among the 120 countries that have supported the reform efforts of the UN Secretary-General.
