Chandigarh Becomes North India’s 1st City To Install Digital Automatic Speed Gun Cameras

Chandigarh has become first city of North India to install Automatic Speed Gun Cameras for a better control over traffic. The cameras will be having displays showing speed of vehicle, night vision technology. These devices will enable Chandigarh police to issue challans to anyone who drive above specified speed limits.

Mumbai Airport Rated World’s 63rd best airport, Singapore at Top

Mumbai airport (Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport Mumbai) is ranked at 63rd position in terms of best airports in world by consultancy firm Skytrax. Other two Indian Airports from Bengaluru and Delhi were placed at 64th and 66th positions respectively.

It is once again Singapore Airport being at top for the sixth consecutive year.  Second and third position was occupied by Incheon International Airport in South Korea and Haneda Airport in Japan respectively.


Robert Langlands – A Canadian Mathematician Won Abel Prize

Mathematician from Canada Robert Langlands has won Abel Prize 2018. Robert is honored with the prize for development of programme connecting representation theory to number theory.

As a prize money Robert will receive six million Norwegian kroner ($776,000). It will be handed over to him by Norway’s King Harald V at an award ceremony in Oslo on May 22.


World’s Longest Sandstone Cave Discovered in Meghalaya

Meghalaya which is known for hidden caves under its hills has once again got a new status in world. It now hosts world’s longest Sandstone cave. The cave Krem Puri has been found near village of Laitsohum in Mawsynram area of East Khasi Hills district. The length of cave is 24,583 metres which is 6000 metre longer than earlier longest sandstone cave of world, Cueva El Saman, (18,200m) in Edo Zulia of Venezuela.

The cave is also the second longest cave of India in general category.
