Kerala’s Alappuzha among 5 global cities in UN list to successfully manage solid waste

Kerala’s coastal town of Alappuzha, which is world famous for its backwaters and intricate network of canals and lagoons, has also been in the news for the cleanliness. It has been spoted in a United Nations (UN) report of best five global cities to handle the solid waste management problem brilliantly. As per the UN Environment report lists Alappuzha or Aleppey has been listed along with other four cities below:

Osaka in Japan, Ljubljana in Slovenia, Penang in Malaysia and Cajica in Colombia.


Khan gets appointed as Ambassador to Turkmenistan

Azar A H Khan has been appointed as the Ambassador of India to Turkmenistan. Presently Khan holds is at the position of Consul General in the Consulate General of India, Istanbul.


Kerala Government Raised Legal drinking age to 23

Kerala government has increased minimum age limit for drinking from 21 to 23 at a state cabinet meeting held on Wednesday. The government has introduced an ordinance regarding age limit increase which will amend the Abkari Act.

Taj Mahal of India is named as second-best UNESCO world heritage site after after Cambodia’s Angkor Wat as per the newly conducted new survey. India’s iconic ivory-white marble mausoleum was rated based on the number of visitors per year.

As per the survey Taj Mahal witnesses more than 8 million visitors per year. It is just behind the Cambodia’s Angkor Wat. The survey was conducted by TripAdvisor – an online travel services providing agency.
