India beat Srilanka - India's first ever 3-0 series win overseas

India beat Srilanka in third and last test match played at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, SriLanka. India win with a margin of one inning and by 171 runs. This is India’s first ever 3-0 series win overseas. In first two tests, India had beaten Srilanka by 304 runs in first test and beat by an inning and 53 Runs in second test played at Colombo.

In the third and final test, India performed exceptionally well in all areas. Starting from batting, both Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul gave India a solid start. They made a 188 runs partnership. Hardik Pandya Also scored a brilliant century batting in lower order. He scores 108 runs in just 96 balls where he hit eight boundaries and seven sixes.

Not only India made a record with their first ever 3-0 win overseas but, Indian players Hardik pandya and KL Rahul also broke and made many records.

Talking about Pandya, he made below records:
1. With 8 fours and seven Sixes, he equalled Virender Sehwag’s record of hitting equal number of sixes and fours against Srilanka at Brabourne in 2009. The record is currently held by Navjot Singh Sidhu, who had hit 8 sixes against Srilanka in 1994 at Lukhnow.

2. He scored 107 runs by lunch on Day 2, which is most by any Indian on any day before lunch. Earlier it was Virender Sehwag who had scored 99 runs against West Indies in Gros Islet in 2006.

3. Pandya became first Indian to score 26 runs in an over of a test match. He broke earlier record of 24 runs in an over hit by Kapil Dev off Eddie Hemmings at Lord’s in 1990 and by Sandeep Patil off Bob Willis in Manchester in 1982.

4. Pandya scored first hundred runs in just 86 balls which is second highest by an Indian Batsman overseas. Virender Sehwag is the first who scored 100 runs in just 78 against West Indies in Gros Islet in 2006.

5. Hardik’s 108 runs is the third highest score by any number eight batsman against Srilanka.

With consistent performance, KL Rahul’s also made a record. he joined the exclusive club of cricketers scoring most number of fifties consecutively in test cricket.

Ravi Shastri Confirmed Head Coach Of Indian Men’s Cricket Team

Ravi Shastri has became the head coach of the Men’s Cricket team of India. The position of coach was vacant after the resignation of Anil Kumble. Along with ravi, Zaheer Khan has been selected as bowling coach whereas Rahul Dravid will be the Batting coach for foreign tours.

The selection was made by the cricket advisory committee (CAC) which was having three members named Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Saurav Ganguly. Other people who had applied for the position of head coach were Virender Sehwag, Tom Moody, Lalchand Rajput, Richard Pybus, Phill Symons but Ravi Shashtri was selected among all.

According to sources, he was also the favorite of Indian team captain Virat Kohli, which was also one of the reason behind his selection. A two years contract has been signed with him so it is clear that he will be having responsibility to prepare team for 2019 World cup. Earlier he had not applied for the post but, he applied later when the application date was extended to 9th July, 2017.

National Indian football team moved to 96th spot in world FIFA ranking

National Indian football team has moved to 96th spot in the recent world FIFA ranking. Previously India was at 100th position and this is India’s finest position in the last 21 years.

Germany football team tops the rank followed by Brazil, Argentina, Portugal & Switzerland. Iran who held 23rd spot is leading the Asian nations.

On an average, India has secured 134th place since the beginning of world ranking in 1992. India has shown significant improvements in the rankings and current ranking is much better than its earlier ranking in March 2015 when Indian football team was placed at 175th place.

FIFA ranking was introduced in December 1992. It ranks men’s football teams as per their performance in last four years. Brazil is the team which has ranked at top for longer time. Other teams which have held the top position are Belgium, Argentina, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Spain.

Germany is the current winner of football world cup. The country won the cup in 2014 by defeating Argentina.

The next football world cup will be held in Russia. It will start from 14 June and will end on 15 July 2018 (32 days).

Kidambi Srikanth made history by winning Indonesia open

Star badminton player Kidambi Srikanth made history by winning Indonesia open super series title. He is the only Male Indian to win this tournament. In final he encountered with Kajumasa Sakai of Japan and defeated him by 21-11, 21-19.
Earlier on Saturday he had defeated world number one Son Van Ho of South Korea. 22 ranked Srikant beat Son in an interesting match with 21-15, 14-21, 21-22.
On the other end Sakai had entered in semifinal by beating another Indian named HS Prannoy in a close encounter of 21-17,26-18, 18-21.
HS Pranay earlier made to semifinal by surprising everyone as he beat Lee Chong Wei (Six time Champion) and beat current Olympic, world, Asian Champion of China Chaen Long.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated Kidambi Srikanth on his win.

Three Indians Got Place in top 15 of World Badminton Ranking

The Badminton world federation released its world ranking. It’s a proud moment for India as three Indian male badminton players got place in top 15 for the second time. This ranking reflects the hard work done by the male players.

Indian shuttlers have occupied 13th, 14th and 15th places. Ajay Jayaram maintained his previous year spot (13th place) whereas Kidambi Srikanth and Sai Praneeth were placed at 14th and 15th place respectively.

Srikanth improved one place from earlier previous (15). However Sai Praneeth was the pick of the players. He jumped up nine places after he won back to back titles in Singapore and Thailand.

The rankings for women shuttlers Sindhu (3) and Saina Nehwal(11) remain the same.

Mix doubles:

In mix doubles three Indian pairs have got places in top 50. Pair of Sumeeth Reddy and Manu Attri is top ranked pair for India with 29th position in the world. The other two pairs in list of first fifty pairs are:-

1. Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty got 42nd place.
2. MR Arjun and Shlok Ramchandran at place number 46.
