China has started building Biggest Floating Solar Project of World with an estimated investment of 1 billion yuan ($151 million). It has been started by China’s unit named Three Gorges Corpp.
The largest floating solar power plant of world is being started by the unit at country’s eastern province of Anhui. As per the statements the project was started in July by Three Gorges Corpp and it has 150-megawatt power generation capacity. The project is expected to be completed by the May 2018.
Earlier before this project China also had another floating solar project which was its biggest floating solar project with 40-megawatt farm and was developed by Sungrow Power Supply Co. in the same province, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance.
Floating solar technology is growing faster in China, because ground-mounted projects are not being utilized to full capacity due to grid congestion. According to data collected by the National Energy Administration, almost 5.6 percent of solar power generation was idled in the first three quarters in country.
