Asian Games 2018: Vinesh Phogat Won Gold Medal In Women’s Freestyle 50kg Event

In currently going Asian Games 2018, Vinesh Phogat won gold medal for India. This overall is India’s fifth medal at the 2018 Asian Games. Phogat won the gold medal on Monday (20 August, 2018). She defeated Japanese Yuki Irie in Women’s Freestyle 50 kg. Vinesh Phogat registered an easy win of 6-2 to grab the yellow coloured gold medal.

Vinesh Phogat Gold Medal Winning Story

The proud Indian girl made a solid grip to the match right from the start. She played very carefully initially and didn’t allowed her opponent to grab any point. With her wonderful play, Vinesh Phogat took four points in initial stage of the game. She completly dominated the contest. At the end she was declared winner with a score of 6-2.

Earlier Phogat had beaten Daulatbike Yakshimuratova of Uzbekistan in a quick match. The Indian wrestler was in splendid form. She just took 75 seconds to become the winner by technical superiority (10-0).

In the quarter finals, Vinesh had beaten South Korea’s Kim Hyungjoo. Here she also performed very well and won with a margin of 11-0. Sakshi Malik and Pooja Dhanda could not win their respective matches in the semi-final and loses their claim to win gold. But they still can win bronze medals.

Another Medal winner from India at Asian Games

Talking about other players, Deepak Kumar and Lakshay won silver medal in shooting at 2018 Asian Games. Deepak clinched silver in the men’s 10m Air Rifle category. Shooter Lakshay (19 years old young boy) finished second in the men’s trap event. Another Indian Manavjit Singh Sandhu (41 years old) could not make it to first three. He remained at fourth place.
