Arunachal Pradesh Declared Open Defecation free State

After Sikkim, it was Arunachal Pradesh declared open defecation free state on last Sunday. With this the Arunachal Pradesh has become second Northeast state after Sikkim to attain the status of Open Defecation free state. There were three states of Arunachal Pradesh named Upper Subansiri, Siang and Changlang which were having open defecation. But after observance the three states were also found to be free of open defecation.

Related Facts:

The center government has set a target to make India a open defecation free country by the October 2, 2019. But the Arunachal Pradesh state has achieved the target much ahead of the cernter government’s deadline which is a great achievement.  This has also been made possible because of increase in financial help provided by the center govt for construction of toilets.

Apart from that Arunachal Pradesh state government has also launched Swachh Arunachal Mission on October 2, 2017 at Tawang following Swachh Protocol (Cleanliness Protocol). The mission aimed at making sure sustainability of assets created under SBM (Gramin).

About (Open Defecation Free)ODF target:

Open Defecation Free or ODF is the project of certer govt under Swachh Bharat Mission. Government also provides incentives to create toilets in the villages of state. Recently government had extended the incentives by 8000 rupees and made it to Rs. 20000 per household to construct toilets.

Message: Open defecation is a serious matter all over the India and is main cause of various diseases like intestinal worm infections, diarrhoea, polio, hepatitis and many more. So it is duty of all our Indians to make people aware about this issue and encourage them to make toilets at their homes.
